Wine Description

Trefiano di Capezzana is a very rare and fine Tuscan Carmignano DOCG wine, the brainchild of Vittorio Contini Bonacossi in 1979.Produced only in small quantities each year, the grapes come from two centuries-old vineyards near the Villa di Trefiano. The clay shale soil gives the wine unique organoleptic characteristics. The blend includes 80 percent Sangiovese, 10 percent Cabernet and 10 percent Canaiolo. Trefiano is aged for 18 months in tonneaux and then in bottle for at least 1 year. The color is an intense ruby red, the elegant bouquet of ripe red fruits, sweet spices, vanilla and licorice. On the palate, the wine is balanced and harmonious, with a delicate tannic texture and a lingering, spicy finish.
